500 Angolan soldiers could advance next week to the DRC


 The information was released this Wednesday, March 15, by the Minister of State and Head of the Military Household of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, having announced that Angola will send, for a period of 12 months, between 450 and 500 men to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in order to secure the cantonment zones of the forces of the rebel group M23.

According to the minister, the contingent of the Angolan Armed Forces supporting the Peacekeeping Operation and Securing the M23 Cantonment Areas in the DRCongo is made up of a battalion of the Angolan Armed Forces and the respective technical, military and logistical component.

It should be noted that the National Assembly (AN) authorized the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to finance the operation in the amount of 11.2 billion kwanzas, through funds from the 2023 General State Budget of the Defense and Security sector , to fund the mission.
